Family Guy and American Dad renewed

Published: May 14, 2012 by meza Filed under: News
Fox is maintaining the back half of its Animation Domination unchanged.

The network has picked up Family Guy and American Dad for more episodes, holding both Seth MacFarlane series on the air over the 2013-14 television season.

Both 20th Television-produced half-hours remain outstanding performers for the network, broadcasting back-to-back starting at 9 p.m. during Fox's Sunday Animation Domination block, which also features Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show, which has been renewed for a 4th season. The fate of Cleveland, which also comes from MacFarlane and 20th, beyond next year's fourth season has yet to be decided.

The Family Guy pickup arrives six months after MacFarlane informed THR that part of him wished the series to finish. "Part of me thinks that Family Guy should have already ended," he stated back then. "I think seven seasons is about the right life span for a TV series. I talk to the fans, and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say we're done with it. There are plenty of people who say the show is kind of over the hill … but still the vast majority go pale in the face when I mention the possibility."

In the meantime, Sunday staple The Simpsons - following tense discussions with its voice cast - already has been renewed for two more seasons, while midseason entry Bob's Burgers was picked up for a 3rd season earlier this year. Freshman animated entries Allen Gregory has already been canceled, while ratings underperformer Napoleon Dynamite isn't anticipated to come back and isn't at the moment in production.

The Legend Of Korra, the sequel to AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER

Published: Mar 26, 2012 by meza Filed under: News
Prior to M. Night Shyamalan tainted the name of Avatar: The Last Airbender, millions of fans worldwide were able to appreciate the animated Nickelodeon adventure series. When the show finished its three season run, those same fans were left thinking if and when their favorite heroes would ever come back. Fortunately, Nickelodeon put the show’s follow up, The Legend of Korra into creation. From creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, The Legend of Korra takes place 70 years after the original. The new avatar is a young woman called  Korra who discovers herself in Republic City, the capital of the unified nations. Assessing from the trailer, sneak peeks and first episode, the follow up is everything the original was and more. The show is scheduled for an April 14th premiere.

The F’n Osbournes

Published: Mar 12, 2012 by meza Filed under: News

The well-known Heavy Metal rocker Ozzy Osbourne and his family (Sharon, Jack, and Kelly) will be lending their voices to stop-motion cartoon versions of themselves in a new Cuppa Coffee Studios-developed comedy, imaginatively named The F’n Osbournes. Although, in line with the Canadian animation house, the “F” is an acronym for “family.”

Cuppa Coffee Studios’ president and show creator Adam Shaheen affirms the new prime time series “combines absurd animated sitcom premises that only the Osbournes can pull off!” Shaheen, continues to add “Although it is a cartoon,is certainly not one for little kids, bearing in mind the family that are at the root of it.”

Shaheen, whose Toronto-based company also created Comedy Central’s Ugly Americans will co-executive produce the series, together with Sharon and Jack Osbourne. In a declaration, Sharon Osbourne mentioned, “Teaming up with Cuppa Coffee has spawned a great opportunity to produce a unique animated prime-time show, I’ve been excited about animating our often crazy lives for a while now.”

Cuppa Coffee looks to complete sales of the series to a television network this April at the MIPTV gathering in Cannes. Twenty episodes of The F’n Osbournes have been planned – and, if all goes as intended, production will start this summer.
